It's crucial that we derive enough silica to help with many bodily functions. So, where can we find silica and how does it help with hair and skin?
Diatomaceous earth is a powder made from the sediment of fossilized algae found in bodies of water. The cells of these algae were high in silica. The dried sediment from these fossils is very high in silica. Deposits are found all over the world.
When ingested, diatomaceous earth can be used for treating high cholesterol levels, treating constipation, and improving the health of skin, nails, teeth, bones, and hair.
Diatomaceous earth is used to brush teeth or remove unwanted dead skin cells.
It is also used as an insecticide, it's thought to kill insects by dehydrating them or drying them out.
If using food grade DE in your house, be aware that inhaling food grade DE is no more harmful than inhaling dust. However if you are asthmatic, elderly, smoke, or have small children, there might be respiratory or health complications if proper are not taken.
Precautions;
Where possible avoid breathing in. Use DE in a well ventilated area, open windows for a flow of air to help mitigate DE build up.
If you apply DE in your home and feel respiratory discomforts, coughing or shortness of breath, remove the DE with a damp towel and/or vacuum cleaner.

To take internally use a teaspoon to lower some powder gently into a glass of water disolve by agitating the spoon under the water.
